The Physical Activity Network for Wales

The Physical Activity Network for Wales is an information and consultation mechanism involving partners that have the potential to impact on the physical activity levels of the population of Wales.

It is a point of national contact and aims to keep all involved in the physical activity agenda up-to-date with key developments. In addition, it provides a forum for debate and for promulgating evidence based best practice; promote working across disciplines and sectors, and a source of training initiatives and professional development.

The aims of the network are:

  • To establish agreed priorities for increasing participation in physical activity in Wales
  • To develop closer working relationships between partners working in the field
  • To develop the evidence base to address current gaps
  • To identify and share best practice through evidence base research
  • To influence policy making at a local and national level
  • To integrate with the other networks as appropriate and to position Wales within the wider International Physical Activity Communities

The focus of the Network is to increase the habitual physical activity of the population of Wales for the improvement of health. It recognises that there is a cross over of interests with the health and physical activity agenda and the sport in the community agenda.
