Sports Council for Wales
The Sports Council for Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and recreation. Set up in 1972 by Royal Charter, it is the main advisor to the Welsh Assembly Government on all sporting matters, and is also responsible for distributing Lottery funds to sport in Wales.
The Sports Council for Wales is the principal core funder for the majority of NGBs in Wales and is also a principal partner and funder of the Association.
Originally the Association's Executive Committee was a Sub-committee of SCW, called upon to advise on matters pertaining to NGB policy.
Whilst this is no longer the case, as the Association is very much a separate, independent and autonomous body, the respective organisations continue to work closely on relevant matters, particularly as they apply to the NGBs.
The Association is represented on the Sports Council for Wales by its Chairman Bob Turner, who is a co-opted member.
