A framework for safeguarding and protecting children in and through sport in Wales
The framework encompasses an overarching approach to safeguarding children in and through sport, and incorporates:
- Standards
- Support
- Progress and evaluation
There will be five standards to the framework.
- Policy
- Procedures
- Practices
- Education and training
- Implementing and monitoring
Throughout the development of the framework, Sport Wales have consulted with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and believe that it will meet the needs of the diverse range of NGBs in Wales.
A two year financial arrangement between Sport Wales and the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) has been agreed to ensure that NGBs have access to professional guidance and support. Ten NGBs have been invited to join phase one, with the pilot phase commencing in April 2009. The NGBs will work together as learning sets with similar NGBs.

Future Roll Out Updates on the roll out of the framework, and feedback from the pilot phase, will be given at Lead Officer Meetings.
