Funding boost for Swansea watersports centre

The new 360 beach and watersports centre on Mumbles Road in Swansea, which is due for completion next month, has been awarded a grant of £25,000 by Sport Wales. Budding tennis stars head for Junior Welsh National Championship

Young tennis players from all over Wales will be heading to Cardiff for the Welsh Junior National Championships. The tournament, which dates back to 1927, has attracted almost 250 entries, ranging from 8-and-unders Mini Tennis to adults, taking part in a tournament alongside the traditional Junior event. Public consultation commences for Ebbw Vale race track

A public consultation on the proposed £150m race track at Ebbw Vale has begun with an exhibition to outline the current plans for the site. Wales plays host to athletes from around the world
|
Around 530 Paralympic athletes and support staff from 15 nations have been based in Wales in the lead up to this year's Paralympic Games in London, attracted by the world class training facilities on offer. Australian, US and GB cyclists have been training at Newport Velodrome. Australian Paralympic cycling team section manager Murray Lydeamore commented: "Since we've been here we've had so much local interest, from local cyclists riding alongside our guys out on the road, to the public and disability organisations keen to watch our track sessions. Extreme sailing brings Olympians to Cardiff harbour festival

Excitement is mounting on the waterfront of Cardiff Bay in anticipation of the traditional finale to the Cardiff Festival, but this year the Cardiff Harbour Festival (Aug 31 - Sep 2) has gone to extremes, as it welcomes the Extreme Sailing Series – the UK leg of the world's most exciting inshore racing series to Cardiff Bay which features Welsh Olympic silver medallist Hannah Mills competing for Team Wales, and Windsurfing silver winner Nick Dempsey. Paralympians aim to go one better than their Olympic Colleagues

UK Sport has confirmed the performance expectations for Britain’s Paralympic sports at the London 2012 Paralympic Games this summer. The goal that has been set is for the GB Paralympic team is to finish second in the medal table, with at least 103 medals from a minimum of twelve sports.
