Welcome to the July 2008 issue of the WSA e-newsletter.  The new WSA training programme for NGB's is now available and a list of the courses being held in September are listed to the left.  New employment documentation has also been added to the website for governing bodies to use.

New WSA Training Programme Available

The new 2008/09 training programme is now available to download.  Courses offered include HR, recruitment, personal development, finance, management, business, marketing and much more.  The brochure currently available covers training in South Wales for September - December 2008  click here

Employment Documents Published on WSA Website

The WSA has recently added new and up-to-date legal documents to it’s website for NGBs to download.  These have been prepared in conjunction with Edward Geldards Solicitors and include model policies, templates, legal guidance information and drafting notes.  To access these you will need to login to the website  click here

Progress Made with Independent Safeguarding Authority Scheme

 The CPSU (Child Protection in Sport Unit) has been in active discussions with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) following the publication of the Governments response to the recent consultation.  One particular area where positive progress has been made is in the aspect of the legislation relating to legal responsibility to check  click here

Proposed Changes to Music Licences Affecting Sports Clubs

 The WSA will be working closely with CCPR (Central Council for Physical Recreation) regarding the proposed changes to music licences  click here

Funding Available for Grass-Roots Sport in Wales

 The Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust has announced its next round of funding and is welcoming applications from governing bodies and sports clubs throughout Wales  click here

Latest Progress Regarding Points Based Migration System

The Border Agency has published further details of its new migration system, which applies to individuals from outside the European Economic Area. In summary, the new system will result in little change for most sports people, although some will fall under Tiers 2 & 5 of the Points Based System. click here

2009 UK Anti-Doping Rules Published

 UK Sport has published the UK Anti-Doping Rules which will bring National Governing Bodies (NGBs) in line with the revised World Anti-Doping Code. The Rules will be rolled out to sports on its testing and anti-doping programmes over the coming weeks, with the new Code and the UK Anti-Doping Rules entering into force on 1 January 2009  click here
