2009 Prohibited List Published by WADA
|
The 2009 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods has been issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and will come into force on 1 January 2009. Further details can be accessed here

Open Day and Advice for Limited Companies

HM Revenue and Customs have organised a free open day on 6th November for all registered limited companies. The day will not only cover issues regarding VAT, but a whole host of other useful information such as meeting Government regulations and enhancing your organisation through funding, marketing and new technology. Renewed Guide to Volunteering and Benefits Published
|
Following a government commitment in response to the Commission on the Future of Volunteering's report ‘Manifesto for Change’ earlier this year, Jobcentre Plus, part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), has published its renewed guidance on volunteering whilst on benefits. Cabinet Office Guidance for Vetting and Barring
|
The Cabinet Office has published guidance to help organisations to decide when CRB checks should and should not be carried out on volunteers. This guidance will help cut unnecessary red tape and responds to concerns voiced by the voluntary sector that potential volunteers can be put off if they are asked to undergo a CRB check without good reason. Code of Practice for Managed Migration Published
|
The UK Border Agency has now published the new code of practice for immigration. The document includes governing body’s role in the process of setting endorsement requirements and the issuing of endorsements. More details here

In the next stage of transition, from winter 2008, employers in England and Wales must send new referrals to the ISA (Independent safeguarding Authority), which will take the barring decisions. More details can be accessed here

Assistance for Voluntary Organisations with Accounting Basics
|
The Community Accountancy National Network web site has a new range of basic resources to help small organisations with their accounting. If you are a treasurer, manager, finance worker, committee member, or other volunteer, support is available and most of it is free to voluntary and community organisations. More details here

Kelloggs Active Living Fund
|
The Kellogs Active Living Fund gives small grants to projects and activities that directly lead to people taking part in sustained physical activity. The aim of the fund is to help remove the "barriers" which stop people being active. For more information on how to access this fund click here

BBC Unsung Hero Award 2008
|
The BBC has opened nominations for its 2008/09 Unsung Hero Award. The award seeks to recognise the people who devote their time, energy and effort to helping more people enjoy sport around the UK. More information and how to nominate can be found here

The Sports Marketing Research Trust can assist governing bodies of the minor sports and sports charities by providing grant aid and technical support for research projects. More details here

Community Channel Seeks Grassroot Sport Films
|
Community Channel is a not-for-profit TV station available in 13 million homes in the UK on Sky 539, Virgin 233 and Freeview 87 from 6 -9 am. The channel is launching a show called ‘Your Sport’ that will celebrate the personal and community benefits of grassroots sport and are looking for distinctive films about the power of community sport.
