Welcome to the September 2008 issue of the WSA e-newsletter. Another risk management workshop has been organised for north Wales on 20th November, details of which can be found below. Following the changes and updates to the WSA website last month there are several features you may not be aware of. These include free legal assistance for governing bodies and access to information and documents on a wide variety of topics, including CASCs and child protection. Free Legal Assistance for NGBs

Are you aware that the WSA can help you with some of your legal issues for FREE? WSA members can get access to a helpline facility to gain information on a range of topics (such as employment, tax, company law etc.) through the experienced firm of Croner Consulting. New Child Protection Documents on WSA Website

New guidance documents and templates have been added to the child protection section of the WSA website, including example child protection policies and sample policy statements.

Information on CASCs (Community Amateur Sports Clubs)

The WSA has recently had a number of requests for information on CASCs (Community Amateur Sports Clubs). If you haven't already visited the CASC section of the website please do so here. Also, information on Club Charity, a company that helps clubs for free to become CASCs and claim gift aid, can be viewed here.

Report Suggests Volunteers not put off by New Vetting Procedures

Clubs Can Earn Money Through the BingoLotto Buddy Scheme
|
From early next year, sports clubs can benefit from the proceeds of BingoLotto, a live TV game which raises money for sport and the voluntary sector. A club can earn as much as 20% (up to 40p) per ticket sold via the buddy programme. More information can be found here
