The London 2012 Games are coming to Cardiff ....and YOU can be part of it!

Paul Dancey on 18/01/2012

Cardiff's Millennium Stadium will see the first action of the 2012 Olympic Games – two days before the opening ceremony, when it plays host to the first of 11 Olympic football matches taking place in Cardiff. The City will also play host to Pre-Games Training Camps for a number of Olympic & Paralympic teams.

This summer Cardiff will therefore be welcoming visitors from all over the world, and ‘Ambassadors’ are needed to help make their time in Cardiff and their experience of the Olympic & Paralympic Games the best possible.

‘Ambassadors’ are the official Olympic & Paralympic volunteers who will be representing Cardiff by welcoming visiting spectators and teams to the City. Volunteer roles will be diverse and could range from assisting Oscar Pistorius with training at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium to directing spectators to the Millennium Stadium for Olympic football matches!

If you would like to be a part of the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games and feel you have the enthusiasm, commitment, and ability to make a good ‘Ambassador’, please visit and register today!.

Registering with the VSB will also keep volunteers updated with other events and ways in which to participate, as well as offering a personal profiles to log the hours they have completed.

Cardiff Council executive member for sport, leisure and culture Nigel Howells said: "This new service will improve the way we manage our sports schemes, keeping volunteers informed of all the latest opportunities."
