John Rawlins co-opted onto WSA board

Peter Gomer has left the board of WSA due to the pressures of other commitments. The board expresses its grateful thanks to Peter for his efforts whilst with the WSA and wishes him well

The board has co-opted John Rawlins, a senior lecturer in sports at UWIC Cardiff and Programme Director for Sports Development & Coaching as his replacement. John has worked extensively also in Local Government and was a Business Development Manager in Sport Recreation and Health for Caerphilly Council.


Amongst other impressive qualifications John holds a BA (Hons) in Education and a Master of Arts in Sports and Leisure. He is Member of the Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity and a Lead Assessor for ISO 9000

In his younger days he played rugby at first class level including for Cardiff and Newport rugby clubs first teams. He was a member of the WRU World Cup Squad in New Zealand in 1987

He will bring a fresh perspective to the WSA and the board looks forward to working with him.
