Young players from North East Wales were the winners at the Winter County Tour Mini Tennis finals.

The Mini Tennis Green finals, for players aged 9 and 10, and the Mini Tennis Orange finals for players aged 8 and 9, were held at Wrexham Tennis Centre. Finalists came from clubs in Wrexham, Mold and Wem.

"This was an invitational event for the top six players on the Winter North Wales County Tour leader-boards," explained event organiser Pam Griffiths of Tennis Wales. "Players have competed in events across North Wales from September to March in order to gain points towards their leader-board place, so it’s a big occasion for these promising young players."

Results:
Mini Orange – winner: Thomas Barlow (Wrexham Tennis Centre); runner up: Joel Buchanan (Mold LTC).
Mini Green – winner: Sam Morris (Mold LTC); runner-up: Archie Dubbins (Wem Tennis Club / Ellesmere College).

Peter Drew, chief executive of Tennis Wales, said: "This was another very successful event for the burgeoning Mini Tennis scene in North Wales. It’s great to see our young players enjoying serious competition, as they progress to the full game."
