Thomas on course to make the games

Sarah Thomas is making 'good progress' in her recovery from injury in time for a place in Britain's London Olympics hockey team.

The Aberdare 31-year-old is looking to make her appearance at the Games, her second after featuring in Beijing 2008, and is the only Welsh competitor in the side.

But she has suffered an ankle injury which ruled her out of the London Cup this month, along with two other British team-mates.

Thomas, who plays either in midfield or up front, made her Welsh début in 1997, was capped for the first time by Great Britain in 2003 and has gone on to play for both ever since.

Despite being on crutches earlier this month with the injury, her Great Britain head coach Danny Kerry said Thomas would not miss out on the London extravaganza.

"Sarah is making good progress in her rehab in time for the Olympic Games," said Kerry.
