1,100 pupils compete in North Wales Schools tennis competition

More than 1,000 pupils from 55 schools took part in the AEGON North Wales Primary Schools Tennis Championship.
"This competition always generates a lot of interest, and it was great to see so many youngsters taking part," said Pam Griffiths, North Wales tennis development manager at Tennis Wales.
In all, some 1,100 took part in qualifying events organised by five local authorities, with the top teams coming together at the finals at Wrexham Tennis Centre. The Winners were:
Mini Red (Year 3):
Boys – All Saints (Wrexham); Girls – Wat’s Dyke (Wrexham).
Mini Orange (Year 5):
Boys – Ysgol Derwen (Flintshire); Girls – Glanrafon (Flintshire).
Mini Green (Year 6):
Boys – St Mary’s (Wrexham); Girls – Bryn Coch (Flintshire).
"Congratulations to all the winners, and to everyone who took part," added Pam Griffiths. "Special thanks to the pupils of St Joseph's High School, Wrexham, who gave up their day to support the event."
