New Vacancy : PE & School Sport Manager (Neath Port Talbot County Council)

Based in swamwac Region hosted by one of the partner Local Authorities but with extensive travelling required across the Region, this post is offered on a secondment basis until 31st August 2013.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to be involved in the regional delivery of the P.E and School Sport Programme in South West and Mid Wales.


The P.E and School Sport programme is managed by a partnership of Local Authorities and Sport Wales with funding from the Welsh Assembly Government. The delivery of the programme is in line with the new educational regional consortia structure.

This role will involve influencing and challenging key stakeholders to make sure that all young people experience high quality P.E and School Sport opportunities. The aim of the programme is to ensure that 'Every young person is challenged and supported in P.E and school sport. Provision across curricular, extracurricular and community is engaging to all young people, providing them with the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to be hooked on sport for life.'

The National Outcomes for the P.E and School Sport programme include:

  • Trend improvements in the achievements of young people in PE assessments at the end of year 9
  • Increase in young people's regular participation in extra - curricular and club activity
  • Number of schools achieving the Activemarc Cymru Award
The P.E and School Sport Programme supports the vision for Sport in Wales and the plans laid out by the Welsh Assembly Government in Creating an Active Wales.
