New Vacancy: National Optimist Squad Head Coach (Welsh Yachting Association)

The Welsh Yachting Association is looking to appoint a Head Coach for the WYA National Optimist Squad to oversee the training and competition program of the sailors.

The initial contract will entail around 15 - 20 days commitment up until the 31st of March 2013.


The Head Coach is responsible for the Welsh National Squad Optimist Sailors including overseeing and delivering an annual training program, competition support at major UK competitions and liaising with sailors and their parents. The Head Coach will also work directly with and oversee the work of the Regional Head Coaches and monitor the training and progress of regional sailors in the performance pathway. The Head Coach will be supported and managed by the WYA High Performance Manager and will liaise with GBR Coaches and the class association as and when required.

The Head Coach will be part of the WYA Performance Committee that oversees the strategic direction of the performance program. The Head Coach may also liaise with the National Development Officer and Regional Club Development Officers in assisting/advising with the open training programs in Wales.

The main responsibility of the post is to deliver a well-planned and structured programme to the standards agreed with the WYA High Performance Manager and the WYA Performance Committee.
