Glasgow's bid to host Youth Games

Paul Dancey on 17/10/2012

Glasgow has tabled a proposal for hosting the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, which will now be examined by the International Olympic Committee working group chaired by Claudia Bokel.

Glasgow now joins Buenos Aires, Guadalajara, Medellin and Rotterdam who have also tabled their proposals for staging the event, which will involve over 6,000 teenage athletes.

Each bid will be analysed by the working group, and a report compiled on their respective merits. The report will then be considered by the IOC Executive Board when they meet in February, and a short-list of candidate cities produced.

The winning bid will be selected from that short list in Lausanne on the 4 July 2013.
