Sport Wales picks up public relations award

Paul Dancey on 23/10/2012

The Sport Wales Annual Conference has been named gold winner of Best Event in the 2012 Cymru Wales Chartered Institute of Public Relation PRide Awards.

This year's awards saw the region's leading public relations practitioners attend the annual awards ceremony at a black-tie dinner at the Hilton, Cardiff.

Claire Knowles, Events Officer at Sport Wales, said: "We're over the moon to have won this award. A lot of hard work goes in to ensuring it is a worthwhile and successful event for our delegates, so it's fantastic that it has been recognised in this way.

"The Sport Wales Conference is our opportunity to bring the sector together on an annual basis to debate key issues, challenge current thinking and be inspired by those that are making an impact. We set a precedent with 2012's conference and the challenge for us to us to continue improving year on year."

The CIPR PRide Awards, sponsored nationally by Precise, PRWeek and RedBrand, receive over 1,000 entries from freelancers, consultancies and in-house teams across twelve UK regions and nations, with a national panel of industry experts assessing the short listed entries and choosing the winners.

Jane Wilson MCIPR, CIPR CEO, commented: "The Cymru Wales CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from across the region. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving regional industry. The CIPR PRide Awards represent the best, most creative and most effective public relations work across the UK and to win an award is a great achievement."
